The Annual Canadian Seal Hunt
#1
They call it a seal hunt, but in truth it is brutal killers clubbing baby seals to death.
These baby seals are unable to escape into the water. They are too young. The killers walk up to them and club them to death and they have no way to defend themselves. There is very little market for seal products so the slaughter is pointless. It is no longer economically viable. The government subsidizes the killing. Most Canadians are against slaughter, but still the government supports it. Some  members of the government want to expand the hunt.

With climate change and sea ice melting, the seals are having a hard time surviving. There is less and less ice for their babies to be born on. Still the so called hunters come to perform their acts of brutality against a gentle, helpless species.

The writer is upset about seeing 25 years of seal slaughter. I first saw a movie of the killing in 1964, 59 years ago.
These people are worse than trophy hunters. At least trophy hunters kill adult animals. These people kill helpless baby animals.
When will Canada end this madness.
