Canadian Bill S-5 opens the way to end toxicity testing on animals
#1
The environmental Bill S-5 has passed in the Canadian Senate. Humane Canada has supported this bill and pushed for it to pass. Their web site now claims that this will lead to an end to toxicity testing on animals. It opens the pathway.

It is complex, but this does open the door to change. This bill was needed before there could be an end to toxicity testing.

The Bill provides better environmental protection and is good in many ways.
Ending toxicity testing will be one of its many benefits. I wish we could just stop testing on animals, but that is not how our laws work.
Since we required the testing, we have to now "un-require" it. It is progress, but it is slow. It doesn't help the many animals that are suffering right now.
