Distracted dog walking
#1
People who multitask while dog walking are becoming a problem. Yes they are out with their dog, but they are on the phone and texting and doing anything, but being aware of their dog. They are calling it distracted dog walking and it is dangerous. Being distracted while you walk alone can have dangers. When there is a dog involved, the dog is at risk.  Lots of things can go wrong when you don't pay attention. Dogs eat things and encounter things. They can wander into traffic or another dog.

It is also the problem that your dog knows you are not there for them. Distracted dog walkers are just walking with a leash. They totally ignore the dog.
It is a lonely experience for a dog that has waited all day to see you.
Dogs ask for so little and give so much. Is it too much to ask for a few minutes of attention when out for a walk.
I saw someone recently out walking their dog and it is as if they didn't know the dog was there. The dog could tell. He just wanted to be noticed a little.
If you care about your dog why wouldn't you want to walk with it?

I have seen people do this with friends, partners and children. Why do we ignore the ones who care about us?
