3000 mink released from fur farm in Wisconsin
#1
First let me make it absolutely clear that I am not in favour of fur farming.
I understand the desire of the Animal Liberation Front to save these animals and end fur farming.

However, these are not native mink. They have been released into an unsuitable habitat as an invasive species.
They have to eat so they will slaughter local wildlife just to survive. If they even ate one bird each that is 3000 dead birds.
They won't stop at one bird or one small mammal, they will kill thousands. They will fish the streams and kill thousands of fish.

They have released hungry predators into an area that is not prepared to deal with them. The area may never recover ecologically.
Some species could be lost.

This is a case of good intentions, but not good thinking. They wanted to free the mink. They didn't think through the consequences of what they did.
This has been done elsewhere with disastrous results. You think they could have learned from other people's mistakes.

This same action was done by the same group over 20 years ago with disastrous results.

If it didn't work the first time, why would they do it again.

That sums it up very well, Catherine.
