It seems the loudest purr in the world comes from a cat in England. It is 54,59 decibels. Queen Bella purrs so loud they have to turn up the TV when she is in a purring mood.
She is the loudest cat right now, but the late Smokey of Northampton had a purr of 67.8 decibels in 2011 and later in 2015, Merlin of Devon matched Smokey's record.

That is loud! How do little cats make such loud sounds and why. It would be relaxing to sleep with a loud purr. It would block out all other noise.
Good for Queen Bella. I wonder if anyone will ever beat Smokey's record. It would sound like a small motor,
