Man who blackmailed people over missing pets gets jail time
#1
Brandon Woolveridge would contact people who were frantically searching for a lost pet. He would claim to have the pet. He would only return the pet if they gave him money.  Sometimes he would threaten to harm the pet if they didn't give him money. He caused people a lot of distress.
He didn't have their pets, but he did take their money. One person paid 1000 pounds. They didn't get their pets back because he didn't have them.
The police caught him and he was convicted and will do three years in jail.

I am glad they caught him and I am glad they convicted him. He preyed on people's fears and their distress at losing a pet. It was crime to steal the money, but it was also a particularly cruel crime.
He was also convicted of stealing a young girls wheelchair.
I think three years is not long enough.
