These are shocking numbers. If it was 52 million pounds of meat it would be too much. However it is 52 million tons. A ton is 2 thousand pounds!
The number of animals that die for nothing is unbelievable, 18 billion.
There is not just something wrong with the whole factory farming system. There is something wrong with how we eat.
We waste massive amounts of food in some places while people are starving. We kill billions of animals supposedly because we need to eat them, then we throw their bodies away.

It is not just wrong. The planet can't sustain this. We really need to change and we need to do it now.
