Five Black Rhinos return to Chad
#1
An effort is being made to return the Black Rhinos to Chad. They have been absent 40 years. In 2018, 6 Black Rhinos were released, but only 2 females survived. This time, 5 Rhinos will be released. They will be more closely monitored.

The translocation and restoration of an animal to its natural habitat is a big thing. If they survive, they should be able to multiply. Any new offspring would be native to the area and adapted to it. Since the Black Rhino did live in the area, their presence again could have a very positive effect on the environment.
I hope they all survive and I hope next year I can post about Rhino calves being born.
