Rescuing baby Pademelons from an abandoned pool

It turns out Pademelons are small marsupials. They look like little kangaroos.
The rescuer realized they were babies and climbed into the pool and caught them with a net.
Good thing they were spotted. They couldn't get out and they had no food or water in the pool.
They are being cared for and could even be released to the wild.

I am glad the little Pademelons were rescued. I am wondering how a species ended up with a name like that.
I am also wondering how a pool could be left open and unattended like that.
Anything could fall in and there was no way for anything to escape.
It seems to me that the pool should have a fence around it or a proper cover.
