Millions of donkeys are killed each year to make "medicine"
#1
Donkey skin is boiled down to produce  a gelatin that is made into Ejiao, a traditional Chinese medicine. It is made into pills and liquids and sold to rich women. It is supposed to keep them young looking and fertile.
Many of these donkeys are stolen from farmers in Africa. These donkeys are essential to small farmers supporting their families.
So many are being stolen that the donkey population is in danger.
Globally the donkey population is at risk because the demand is so high. The gelatin could be produced in the lab without killing donkeys.

Something will have to change. The donkey skin trade is cruel and unsustainable.
There are not enough donkeys to keep up with the demand. Killing them before they produce more donkeys just makes it more unsustainable.
Too many people depend on donkeys for their way of life. In every way this is something that cannot go on.

If they keep killing donkeys the cost of the skins will make the Ejiao something only the very rich can have.
At some point they will have to make Ejiao in the lab because there will be no skins available.

Donkeys are gentle creatures and they don't deserve this.
