Jon Stewart host of The Daily Show announced the death of his beloved dog Dipper on the show on Monday.
Dipper came into Jon's life at a fund raiser for Animal Haven, a New York shelter, twelve years ago. They brought out the then one year old, three legged dog to meet Jon. After he sat on Jon's lap it was settled. Dipper went home with the family. When Jon moved out of the city to a farm, Dipper enjoyed country life.
The farm later became the fourth site for Farm Sanctuary, a haven for abused farm animals.

It is beautiful that Jon Stewart was willing to show his grief openly on the air.
We have all lost pets and know how deep the loss is when they die. He made his grief public, which is something many of us can't do.
He let the world know that it is okay to grieve the loss of a pet. We share his sense of loss and we feel for him.
