TV chef cooks and endangered fish on his show

A TV chef planned to cook fish on his show. He had a friend get him the fish. It turned out to be an endangered species.
Fishermen watching the show recognized it and complained.

What kind of chef doesn't know what he is cooking. Shouldn't he have been concerned that it was ethically sourced fish in the first place.
I wonder if he did know what he was cooking, but thought he could get away with it. If not then he is clueless and rather incompetent.
I hope there is a fine for what he did to an endangered species. He should not be allowed to get away with it.
