Rescuing Scotish Isle from feral cats
#1
The Isle of Bara, just off of Scotland has a feral cat problem. The cats were probably brought in to control rodents in barns. There are not many rodents on the island so the cats are a problem to local ground dwelling birds. Western Isles Support for Cats and Kittens is on site with volunteers catching the cats and having them checked and neutered. Hopefully they can all be rehomed.
They do think there are more cats that they have seen and breeding season is coming so the numbers could triple by the fall.

This is the problem of not neutering our cats. A small number of cats with an empty property to house them can multiply very quickly.
This is really an emergency rescue situation. There may be 20-30 cats now, but by the fall there could be triple that number. They are beautiful cats. Hopefully they are not too wild and can still become house cats. At least they can be neutered to stop the numbers from growing.
