Seagulls are clever, adaptable and we should respect them

People are often at odds with seagulls. They steal our food and get into out garbage. In many ways you could call them a nuisance.
There is another way to lo0ok at this. Gulls are forced to deal with us because they have lost so much of their natural habitat. Their natural food supplies are dwindling. Even their actual numbers are declining. We should have sympathy for gulls and admire the things they do to survive.

Gulls do have a rough time. Nobody welcomes them. Bird watchers don't get excited over gull sightings.
Maybe if we appreciated them we would not be bothered by them. We would see how smart they are and how interesting.
