Calgary dog owner fined and banned from owning a dog after fatal dog attack
#1
An 86 year old woman was gardening in her back yard when three pit bulls escaped their yard and came into her yard and attacked her. She died of her injuries. The dog owner has been fined $18000.00 and banned from owning animals for 15 years. One dog has been euthanized. The case is still open for the other two dogs.

This is a horrible tragedy and we have to feel for the family of the woman who was killed.
That woman should still be alive and enjoying life.
The dog owner must have known what his dogs were like. They went into the woman's garden to attack her. They should not have been able to escape like that. If the fence was in good repair and the gate properly closed, this shouldn't have happened.

There have been too many incidents like this lately. Something like this can make it bad for all dogs. The rules for dangerous dogs will become stricter.
If pit bulls aren't banned in the area, they soon will be. Irresponsible dog owners put all dogs at risk. They get their own dogs euthanized and they put other dogs in danger. People's perception of dogs will shift and people will start to see all dogs as potentially dangerous. Some people should never have had dogs in the first place.
