Seal rescued from plastic after 6 years
#1
For six years a seal named Commuter has had a plastic ring stuck around his neck. He has been tracked and attempts have been made to free him. Finally the situation was right and the U.K.'s Seal Research Trust and the British Divers Marine Life Rescue were able to help the seal. The rescue was a success, the plastic ring has been removed and Commuter was able to return to the ocean.

Well done, rescuers. That was no easy job. After 6 years Commuter can swim free of his plastic entanglement.
This just highlights how bad plastic pollution is for the oceans. Commuter was rescued and is unharmed. How many animals die that we don't even know about. How many die slowly because they are caught in plastic and can't eat. It is an emergency and we don't even see it. We need to recycle better and we need to reduce plastic use. If you have a choice, choose the option that produces less litter. Animals like Commuter will thank you.
