The wild turkeys have returned to Montreal
#1
Wild turkeys became extinct in Canada in the 1900s. They were reintroduced in the 1980s.
They seem to have re-established themselves. In particular they have settled in Montreal.
They have food, they feel safe and they can find a mate. Why would they leave. It is perfect for them.
Now they just have to work out how to coexist with the humans in the city. First, people need to stop feeding them. It is better if they find their own food sources. people need to leave them alone and respect their boundaries.

If Toronto can learn to live with its racoons, Montreal can learn to live with its turkeys.
These animals were here first. They have a right to be here.
I think it helps that we call our raccoons Trash Pandas.
Maybe Montreal Turkeys need a good nickname. Of course it would have to be a bilingual name.
Nothing comes to mind, but I am sure there is something we can call them that will make people see them differently.
