More than thirty Pilot Whales stranded themselves in northland New Zealand.
Hundreds of people turned out to help the whales. Both conservation workers and local residents were present. They lifted the whales on sheets to help refloat them.

What an amazing thing, to see so many people show when they were needed to save a pod of whales.
Humans don't always do the right thing, but sometimes they do. We can be proud to be human when we read stories like this.
