16 cats rescued from a hoarding situation
#1
Fortunately someone called in Furry Friends Animal Shelter about a cat hoarding situation. What began as a few cats, became 16 cats. There were 5 males, 2 male kittens and 9 females, all potentially pregnant. They were in bad health, with parasites, ear mites, injuries and dental problems. After a couple of weeks they are doing better, but they still need a lot of care. None of them were neutered.

It is sad that things got so bad. The person probably meant well and wanted to help the cats. Maybe they could have cared for a couple of cats and it would have been okay. The cost of feeding 16 cats would be too much. Caring for them would be impossible. Instead of helping them, the person has put them in worse health and made them more stressed and fearful.  I don't know what triggers animal hoarding. It is clearly not seeing things as they really are.
I wish people would react sooner when they know of a hoarding situation. Right now the kittens will be born where they can be cared for and find good homes.
A few more weeks and the number of cats could have topped 40 or even 50. The kittens would have no chance for a normal life.
