Zoo had to separate African Grey Parrots
#1
Lincolnshire Wildlife Park introduced 5 African Grey Parrots to the same enclosure. They got along, but the staff soon noticed they were working together to make fun of zoo visitors. The birds would swear at them and laugh at them. They got pretty bad and finally the birds had to be separated.

It does not surprise me. African Grey Parrots are very intelligent. The 5 birds were having fun.
Maybe if people had laughed back at the birds and made fun of them, their reaction might have been different.
Too bad, because I think the birds were having fun.

The parrots only swore because stupid humans had taught them.

This is exactly the problem. People think it is funny to teach their parrots to swear. Then they are not happy that the bird does it.
How is it possible that 5 African Grey Parrots ended up at a zoo. They are very expensive, but the people probably couldn't live with them any more.

Instead of a zoo, there needs to be a rescue for parrots that allows them to live, as much as possible, natural, happy lives.
The birds like being in a group. The five African Greys were happy together. Maybe a zoo could have a special parrot area for birds like these African Greys. People would be warned before going in what they would hear. This would put the focus on what the birds need and not on what the people need.
Humans made the birds like this, now we should fix it.
