Eagle found sitting on the side of the road
#1
Eagles don't sit on the side of the road, unless they are in trouble. This eagle was inĀ  big trouble. The eagle was rescued by the Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center. It was found to be suffering from lead poisoning. This would be caused by eating an animal that had been shot. The other possibility would have been rodenticide.

Using lead shot or rodent poison is killing our birds of prey. There have to be better ways of dealing with rodent pests.
This eagle is lucky it was found in time. It is going to take a while, but in time the eagle could be released.
How many other birds of prey are not so lucky.
