Iceland's 2025 whaling season is cancelled
#1
Iceland granted a license for its largest whaling company to kill 200 Fin Whales.
The company has decided not to hunt the whales. They give the reason that the market is declining and it is no longer profitable.
The second largest company stopped hunting whales in 2020 for economic reasons.

The Whale hunt is cancelled!!!!
Yes the reasons are economic and not because the hunt is cruel. But it is still a victory.
It doesn't matter why they stopped the hunt. The important thing is that the hunt is stopped.
We still have work to do to make sure the hunt stays stopped.
There are still two other countries that hunt whales. This is still a major victory.
Two hundred Fin Whales will not die this year.

Great news whatever the reason.

It has been a long time coming.
If we want to stop something we just have to make it unprofitable.
Arguments about animal cruelty don't work.
