This is terrible. They are rounding up some of the Yellowstone Bison herd and sending them for slaughter.
These bison are the last true wild bison. The herd has been in Yellowstone for a long time. This whole slaughter is being done because of cattle ranchers. The see Bison as a threat to their herds.

The Bison were nearly killed to the point of extinction. They really are still in a recovery state. Any excess numbers in Yellowstone, need to be sent to other areas trying to establish herds. We can't afford the genetic loss of those animals. This is not herd management, it is just another brutal slaughter of our Bison.
They forget that Bison are one of the species that stabilizes the prairie and foothills ecosystems.
The ecosystem can survive and be healthy without cattle, but it is not healthy without Bison.
If the ranchers would work with the natural Bison in the area, it would actually be better for them. Bison contribute to healthy plant biodiversity.
We really need to work with nature. The alternative is disastrous.
