I have to agree with you. Wood heat is my favorite way to heat. It is a lot of work if you cut your own wood. You have to keep it dry and feeding the stove every couple of hours is a job in itself.
Even though it is more work I will take it any day over our furnace. When the power goes out we still have heat and ours has a large flat top, approximately the same size as a cookstove top, so we can cook on it as well.
