Reduckto, your photo brings back memories of my childhood. I lived on a houseboat on the Thames, in Surrey (Chertsey, actually). I have many recollections of swans and ducks swimming right by our window, hoping for some "tips"! After quite a few idyllic years, our boat eventually sank in violent flooding one year (about 1964 or 65, from memory). We were homeless for about six months, living in a tent, then people's attics and front rooms.
Forgive my mentioning that. It won't happen to you. I wish you many happy years on your boat!
