New York City considers letting sick leave be used for pet care.

A New York city councilor has sponsored a bill that will allow people to use their sick leave to care for an ailing pet.
A lot of people are in favor of it. It could have positive benefits. Our pets are a positive thing in our lives. Allowing us to care for them better would help us care for ourselves better. 
It could help shelters with adoptions because it would make pet ownership easier.
The idea is being considered by the city council right now.

I think it is a great idea. Having a sick pet is such a worry. Being able to stay home would really help.
Even finding time for vet appointments is hard when you are working. Being able to book some sick leave would really make it easier.

I hope it passes and I hope it spreads. I have a lot of sick leave banked and I never get sick. Having time off when my pet needs me would be a be great thing for me.
