Fort McMurray pets reunited with owners

The worst of the fire has passed Fort McMurray and much has been saved. Now we can breath a sigh of relief for the animals that were in danger.

The RCMP are out there searching for lost animals.

There is some dash cam footage further down the page. It is a sight you would never want to live through. I am amazed anyone survived.

Two airlines, West Jet and Canadian North bent the rules so pets could fly to safety with their owners. That was very kind of them and very understanding. When people and animals are that stressed they need to be physically close to each other.

Hopefully every animal is reunited with its people. Disasters will happen and pets can become separated from their owners. What really matters is reuniting everyone when it is all over.
