DO NOT USE HUMAN HAIR DYES ON ANIMALS!
#1
This is a really sad story which fortunately has a happy ending because of the hard work of the people at the Pinellas County Animal Shelter. The little Maltese dog was brought in after her owner dyed her purple with human hair dye.  It nearly killed her and it did destroy some of her skin. It has taken a lot to heal this little dog and it has been very hard for her.

I notice that her owner didn't stick around to help the little dog through this. Violet is a brave little dog and I am glad she had loving people to comfort her.

I am amazed at just how much damage the dye did. I know animals can't use some of the things we use, but this dye really burned her skin. Of course it was designed for a human scalp. Most products tell you not to use them anywhere else and especially not near the eyes. Violet was dyed all over. It is lucky that she wasn't poisoned by the dye. I am sure much was absorbed through the skin. The most sensitive pats of her skin were actually burned by it.

I am glad that Violet survived and has a loving home. I just hope her story stops anyone else from doing this to another dog.
