Thousands march in Hong Kong to protest animal cruelty
#1
On Sunday thousands of people in Hong Kong marched to protest animal cruelty and to demand tougher penalties for abuse.
The march was organized by AnimalsaverHK,  a group of  animal lovers. The protest was triggered by a number of high profile abuse cases. In particular they were reacting to the case of a dog whose owner threw him off a 23 story building.
There are penalties for animal abuse, but they are not fully applied. No one is fined the full amount or given the full sentence.

It is good to know that there is a strong animal lovers presence in Hong Kong. These people are passionate about caring for animals and stopping abuse. I am sure they will be heard and eventually the laws will be stronger. Once it is clear that there will be consequences a lot of animal abuse will stop. People are abusing animals now because they know they can get away with it.

Someone will think twice about throwing a dog off a building if it will actually result in spending years in prison.
