Ruth, I am so sorry. I know how special Danny is to you. You have been close all these years. For a little tiny bird he is going to leave a big empty space in your heart. I hope you and Allison can take comfort in each other as you miss Danny.
It is hard when you don't know why he died. Perhaps he had a stroke of some kind. I know that your vet did what she could, but it is so hard with small animals like birds. They are very delicate. Danny had good happy years with you and he was only sick a short time before he died. Now he flies free with his other bird friends that have gone before him. His memory will live on forever with you and Allison.
I know how vets bills are and it does leave you with little extra for another bird. Can you find a bird at a shelter or even better on Kijiji. Someone may need to rehome a bird and you could help them out by taking it.
Big hugs to you and Allison and Suzy too.

Danny was part of our Animal Lovers family too. We all feel sad at his passing and we feel the sadness of Ruth and Allison who were close to him.

Ruth, I very sorry to read about Danny. My heartfelt condolences to you. Danny will be watching over you, even if you do not notice. He has only gone into another dimension outside our physical time and space, but never that far away.
I'm sure that Allison will miss him as much as you do, so you need to comfort each other as much as you can right now.

Thank you all so much for your condolences. Danny had a very good life and was a very happy little guy. He loved his home and to fly around; he would zip around the room in a second, he was so fast. He would sit on my head when I typed and give me kisses when I put my nose out to him. Allison was pretty sad. She looked so alone.

Danny did have a good life with you. No bird could have been happier. I am sure your presence is a comfort to Allison as her presence must be to you. I hope this brings you closer and you are able to share happy times together. For now you can remember Danny together and know that you both loved him.

We all have those special pets that we will never forget. Losing them is hard, but it is worth the loss to have known them in the first place. It is just so hard at first to be without them. Right now you are aware of the absence of Danny. In time life with fill up with his memories and you will enjoy the remembering. You never stop wishing that he is still with you, but in some ways he will always be there in your heart.
