There are always year end reviews and this one lists a number of animal stories from 2016.
They are Canadian stories so if you find an animals in the news story for your own area please post it.

There is a real range of types of animals and the reasons why they were in the news.
My favourite of course is the Capybaras. We loved the idea of two capybaras on the loose in the city. They never left the park, but it is a big park and it took some willy tracking to capture them.
There were sad stories like the death of the Beluga Whales. The death of the 7 penguins seems to be an unfortunate accident. We do not know fully what happened yet. There were 15 other penguins in the area who were alright.
The water for pigs trial and the fate of the fighting dogs is still uncertain.
It has been a busy year for animals.
