Calgary Pet store owners given maximum fine for animal abuse
#1
A Calgary pet store had all its animals seized because of the horrific conditions the animals were enduring. Some animals did not survive.  Many of the animals were reptiles and they were not properly housed and did not have water of food. The pictures I looked at did not look good. They clearly did not know how to look after the reptiles. I doubt the beautiful Tegu lizard survived. It didn't look good.
They were charged and given the maximum fine for their treatment of the animals.

Because they ran a pet store they were held to a higher standard of animal care. They were given maximum fines and banned from owning animals.
Calgary has been the site of some horrific animal abuse cases in the past few years. It seems they are responding very firmly and sending a strong message to anyone who neglects or abuses and animal.

There is no excuse for a pet store to fail to care for the animals in its care. The store is supposed to know what it is doing and to do things right.
