NZ bans cosmetic experiments of animals
#1
The EU banned cosmetic experiments in 2013. New Zealand has now joined the list of countries outside the EU which ban such experiments. See:

It is also good to read that some NZ parliamentarians recognise that animals are "sentient" creatures equally capable of fear and suffering, just as we humans are. There is a glimpse of the debate here:

Even China is moving in that direction (at last!). See http://www.peta.org/blog/china-approve-f...etics-test

This is very positive news LPC. Thank you for those links. I hope one day these bans for one thing and another will lead to an end of animal research and testing completely.
I am glad to see China also involved.

We  can look up to New Zealand as a world leader in this issue. Even China is exploring other methods of testing.

This is wonderful news in a year where we could use some good news. I think having countries willing to take a stand and actually ban cosmetic testing on animals is going to increase the pressure on other countries that still allow animal testing.

If you connect the information in this post to the articles about Alzheimer's and Muscular Dystrophy, you can see that the use of animal testing needs to come to an end and it is coming to an end. Animal testing doesn't work, we know it doesn't work and we actually want to stop doing it. We can no longer justify the extreme cruelty of using animals they way we have in the past.

So three cheers for New Zealand as a wonderful, modern and compassionate country.
