Hunting of Trumpeter Swans Proposed
#1
To put this issue in perspective, the Trumpeter Swans were wiped out in Eastern and central Canada and USA. They only exist in these areas now because they were reintroduced from swans that still live on the west coast. It has taken a lot of work and money to establish the swans and build up their numbers. It is a reintroduction success story.

Why would anyone consider hunting them. Why would anyone propose to make it legal to hunt them.

It seems ludicrous to even consider hunting the swans. They were wiped out in the area because of hunting and habitat loss.
It has taken years of work to bring them back. How could anyone consider putting them at risk again.

Maybe it is time to ban all hunting. Hunters seem to have an unreasonable desire to kill everything.

I look forward to seeing flocks of wild swans again. I don't want to hear that hunters will be lying in wait for them to kill them off again.
