A couple visited a sled dog kennel north of Barrie and the video they shared has called into question the way the dogs are treated. The conditions they live under are deplorable. The dogs do not have a minimum comfort and their basic needs are not being met.
Sadly this is the sled dog industry standard.

It is sad that the puppies are forced to work when they are still very young. It is sad that the dogs have so little care.

This is not the first time the sled dog industry has been called into question. After the Vancouver winter Olympics a dog sled kennel downsized by killing 100 dogs.
It is time that sled dog owners were held to a basic standard of care for their dogs. If that minimum standard can't be met then the business should not be licensed to sell rides with sled dogs. Anything less than that is legalizing animal cruelty.
