Good animal movies ?
#1
I thought how about to have a post about good animal movies ? These should not be documentaries or about extinct animals. These should be movies which show the affection of humans and their pets. If you know any animal movies like that, share it in this post.

The first one which i want to share is Hachi: A Dog's Tale.

I'm pretty sure there are several dog movies but this one really captured the bond between a human and animal quite well. It is based on a heartwarming true story. I rarely get emotional but when i watched the ending scene, my eyes were filled with tears which is not surprising since i am one of the biggest animal lovers on the planet.

(The story is about a Professor who finds a lost puppy which has been freighted to America from Japan and accidentally left at the train station. The professor ends up taking the puppy home, planning to search out its intended destination and send it on to its real owner. However the search for thepuppy's owner is unsuccessful.  Over the next year or so, Professor Parker and the dog Hachi become very closer.Hachi develops a daily routine of walking to the train station to wait for Parker to return. One day, Hachi waits patiently as the train arrives, but there is no sign of Parker because he died (of a cerebral hemorrhage during a lecture in class). Hachi continues to return to the station and wait every day. As time passes, Parker's wife Cate sells the house and Hachi is sent to live with Parker and Cate's daughter Andy, her husband Michael. However, Hachi escapes and finds his way back to the station, where he sits at his usual spot.

Cate comes back to visit Parker's grave on the tenth anniversary of his death. She is stunned to see a now elderly Hachi still waiting at the station. Hachi continues waiting until his body can wait no longer, and is last seen lying in the snow, alone and still, although he is comforted by a final vision of Parker finally appearing and picking him up to go, presumably to the afterlife.)

After the movie ended, they showed the picture of the real dog Hachiko. The movie was based on the real Japanese Akita dog Hachiko, who was born in Odate, Japan in 1923. After the death of his owner, Ueno Hidesaburo in 1925, Hachiko returned to the Shibuya train station the next day and every day after that for the next nine years until he died in March 1935.

No wonder why they built a bronze statue of Hachiko in front of the Shibuya train station in his honor. I highly recommend this movie.
