30 tons of Pangolin seized in Malasia
#1
There is an active, illegal trade in Pangolins in Malaysia. 30 tons is a lot of animal parts. Some of what was taken was scales, some was pangolin bodies stored to be sold as meat. Some were still alive and could be rescued.
This is a big bust of illegal animal traders, but it is not the only one and it won't be the last.

The current situation with such intense trafficking is unsustainable. The species is too vulnerable and could well become extinct.

The poaching won't stop until another source of income is found. The people doing this need the money. There must be a way to change lives and change thinking. I think people would pay to see the pangolins. They are so cute and so different. Maybe ecotourism could help. Something has to be done. The poaching is brutal and these gentle creatures deserve better.
