It has been bad along the gulf coast. Right now parts of the great lakes are in trouble. Lake Erie is having a serious algae problem. It is bad enough that it can be seen from space.

It is a big enough problem to warrant a provincial web page. Algal blooms are reportable and they are being monitored.

The real danger to pets are the smaller patches of algae that are not so noticeable. No one would let there dog run into the green water in Lake Erie. Water that has less algae can still be toxic. I hope the word gets out and no more dogs die from a simple summer swim.
I wonder about wildlife. How are they managing? Would they know to avoid the water?
