Ship carrying 15,000 sheet overturns
A ship carrying 15,000 live sheep has overturned in the Black Sea, near Romania. It was on its way to Saudi Arabia so  the sheep were bound for slaughter, sadly. However now they are trapped in a ship that is in danger and listing badly. Thirty two sheep have been rescued so far.

This is part of the ongoing problem of live shipping of animals. There are 15,000 sheep crammed in a ship. They could not have been well cared for and now they cannot be easily rescued.

This is a more recent article and you can see the ship is further over.

This is the most recent article I found and you can see many dead sheep in the water.

There is no way to rescue sheep or any other live animal from these over crowded ships.
Live animal transport is not working. It is certainly not working for the animals.

There is no doubt now that most of the sheep have drowned. However as the article puts it, these sheep were destined for cruel slaughter so they never had any hope.

This is just one more incident around live export. There are so many animal deaths. The only way to prevent things like this is to ban live export. Please sign the petition calling for the end of live export. Together we can do something.

The final search is over and only 254  sheep were rescued. The rest have drowned.

This is heartbreaking. The sheep were trapped below decks and had no way of escape when the ship filled with water.
Shipping live animals never ends well. This just ended very badly. These sheep died for nothing. They will just ship others to replace them.

There needs to be an end to live shipping of animals under such dangerous conditions.
