Endangered Pangolin the likely source of the Coronavirus
#1
Scientists are working as fast as they can to identify the source of the new Coronavirus. It is beginning to look like Pangolins are the source. Pangolins are victims of the illegal wild animal trade. They are hunted for their scales which, even though they are made of the same stuff as finger nails, are thought to have medicinal properties. Their meat is also considered a delicacy.

In truth, Pangolins are a  gentle defenceless creature. They have no medicinal properties, but the mistaken beliefs  have led to them being hunted until they are endangered. They are treated cruelly and their very existence is in danger.

This year it is Pangolins and the novel Coronavirus. Thirteen years ago it was SARS and Civets.
There have been other less serious viruses in between. If for no other reason than self preservation we need to stop the illegal wild animal trade.
One of these times we are going to hit a virus we can't overcome.

It would be better if we looked at what we are doing to wild animals and realize we are wrong and stop doing it. Sadly that is unlikely.
So, we need to stop the cruelty before it inadvertently is the death of us all.
