Pets in the middle east abandoned over pandemic fears
#1
People in the middle east are panicking about the pandemic and abandoning their pets. There is no proof that our pets pose any danger. There are only wild internet rumours.
The World Health Organization recommends good hygiene with regards to pets and everything else. It states that the main source of transmission is human to human.

There is no need to fear our pets and there is no need to abandon them. They are not a danger to us.  Sadly many healthy happy pets will suddenly find themselves on the streets for no good reason. What was once a loving companion animal will now be a frightened confused stray just barely managing to survive.

If you can't do anything to help the abandoned animals, at least be careful what you post. Misinformation can do a lot of harm. Wild rumours might seem harmless, but to a frightened cat now living on garbage it is a life and death issue.
