The Dallas Safari Club is holding its annual convention. Hundreds of trophy hunters will gather (online this year because of the pandemic) to buy animal parts and associated equipment. They will bid on the rights to hunt animals like elephants, rhinos and polar bears. Three hundred and nineteen species in 70 countries will die because of this convention. The bidding will raise 3.5 million for the Dallas Safari Club.

So much of what is good about human activity is on hold because of the pandemic. Many people are struggling financially because of the pandemic.
Trophy hunters are bidding on a chance to kill something and the money will go to a group dedicated to killing.
They are a little out of touch aren't they. Other groups are working to help people in need. If they collect money it is to help others.
People are dying all over the world so groups are trying to do things to help people survive, to help them feel better.
Trophy hunters are a selfish bunch anyhow. They have a weird desire to kill things that are rare. They would put a species at risk just to get a chance to kill something. At a time when the world needs everyone to do good things, they are still thinking only of what they want.
During normal times they are a nasty bunch who like to kill animals. During a global pandemic they are still a nasty bunch who like to kill animals.
I am not surprised.
