Toronto installs duckling docks in the harbour
#1
Every year ducks and ducklings occupy Toronto's inner harbour.  One observant person noticed that some young ducklings drown because there is nowhere for them to rest. Ports Toronto quickly consulted with Toronto Wildlife and now they are installing Duckling Docks. They are attached to the main docks and they  are low platforms at water level that a baby duck could climb on to rest. Very young ducks are not yet waterproof and they need places to rest. These docks should be just the right thing to help the little ducks survive until they get their  waterproof feathers.

I am really impressed that Ports Toronto has reacted so fast. No one wants to think of baby ducks drowning, but usually it takes time to get things done.
Let us hope that our little ducklings all make it safely now that they have a place to rest between swims.
