Moulin Rouge drops its cruel snake act
#1
The Moulin Rouge has an act where live snakes are tossed in a tank of water and a dancer swims around them.
First, they are terrestrial snakes. They have their mouths tapped shut. They are tapped elsewhere to keep them from pooping in the water.
They struggle to stay afloat and breath as there is nothing in the water for them to climb on. They are transported and hour each way in a small box to reach the performance site.

The act has closed because of animal rights protestors. It was a cruel act and the snakes would have suffered great distress. Tapping their mouths would have been terrible for the snakes. Everything about the act was cruel to the reptiles. Protests have been going on for some time. This time they really pushed and it worked.
Now if only we can shut down all the other tourist attractions that involve animal cruelty.
