The capital of Borno State in Northern Nigeria was hit by a massive flood. Yes there has been loss of human life, but there has been loss of animal life as well. In particular the zoo have been overwhelmed by floodwaters. It is estimated that 80% of the animals have died. Some animals like crocodiles and snakes have escaped and are being tracked down.

It is very sad that animals were trapped in their cages and couldn't escape. Sadly there was very little warning. It happened so fast nothing could be done.
Hopefully they can save the animals that are still alive, even the ones that have escaped. Some of them might not go to far from their known food source.
I wish them luck.
