Georgina lost most of her hearing a few years ago. She has a small service dog that alerts her to sounds and dangers around her. Twenty pound Maggie is essential to her safety. Georgina planned her trip carefully. All was well. Maggie was lying at her feet as the plane was in line for takeoff.
Suddenly the flight attendant decided the dog had to be under the seat. That is risky for the dog and she would be unable to do her job of protecting Georgina.
Georgina refused. The pilot turned the plane around and went back to the gate. Georgina and Maggie were kicked off.
What follows is a public relations fiasco for the airline.

I am shocked. Porter Airlines is usually a pretty classy airline.
The airlines own rules don't allow them to treat a person with a service dog that way.
They specialize in customer service. They didn't serve serve Georgina and Maggie very well.
I don't think they made it right. They need to do a lot better than what they have done so far.
They also need to make the point that they will treat service dogs with respect in future and treat the people with service dogs with the dignity that they deserve.
Make it right Ported Airlines, make it right.
