5 Baby Orangutans rescued

Five baby orangutans were found in Odisha, India. That is far from their native habitat. They were probably being smuggled.
They are now in the care of Nandankanan Zoo. They are doing okay, but their species are not. The numbers are declining. Habitat loss and climate change, along with poaching are really putting the species at risk.

I am glad the babies were rescued, but it will never be possible to take them back to their mothers. It is unlikely they will ever live in the wild again.
We need every Orangutan possible to survive and contribute to their numbers. Poaching 5 babies is terrible. Who knows if there were others that didn't make it.
I hope they catch whoever did this and deal with them appropriately.
